Welshpool > Castle Caereinion > Llanfair Caereinion. Eight miles of 2'6" gauge track through the beautiful mid-Wales countryside. Go and visit the WLLR in the Springtime - around Easter - when they run for a full week. There are no crowds and because the trees have scant foliage there are more views to be had. The cool ambient temperatures make for good heads of steam too.
50 years ago on 6th April 1963 the first regular train of passengers (since closure in 1931) ran into 'Castle C'.
